Spring has sprung

And as I'm writing this, I'm looking out my window - and it's snowing 😃

So it was the perfect day to work on something a little springy!

The folks at Scrapki-Wyzwaniowo challenge blog are having a challenge that has a vellum theme for January. So I made my own using paper from the now-retired 7 Gypsies Conservatory collection.

Since it's double sided paper, I made a copy of the bird page, cut it down to fit my frame (a cheapie Dollar Store item!), and painted it with olive oil - beautiful transparency. I then selected the page that had lovely script writing to show underneath. I cut out an extra bird to mount on top with foam for a 3D affect & painted the red portion with a coppery metallic paint.

The frame is covered with regular old patching plaster, then sprayed with Lindy's Edelweiss Moss Green Shimmer Spray - it is gorgeous! I added some wood cuts & a leaf grouping from 49 & Market's Dragonfly Revolution Layered Plastic Embellishments - it's an awesome item if you've never seen it before. A spray of sisal at the top completes it.

I really like the script underneath the birds - gives the page a romantic look. Now it's your turn to make some vellum & enter the challenge!

  1. I love the texture you added to your frame. So pretty!

    1. I tried crackle paste & it wouldn't stay on. Then I realized I hadn't opened my new container of plaster, so why not? Lol

  2. Great idea :) A lot of birds :) Thank you for joining us at Scrapki-wyzwaniowo challenge :)

Hey - Tell me something good!
