A Harvest of Gratitude

Hello my friends!  I am so honored to be a guest designer for Frilly and Funkie due to my win in October for Ye Olde Typewriter Case!

The current challenge is A Harvest of Gratitude and for my project, I chose a mixed media piece full of fall colors!  I used a page from Paper House Productions' Field Study collection along with Tattered Angels English Ivy and Doubloon Glimmer Mists.

The first thing I did was cut the paper to fit a square of lightweight chipboard I had. I chose the part of the paper that would show some butterflies once I started layering.

I then tore a piece of scrap cardboard and spritzed it with the glimmer mists.

The paper that I cut for the base still had butterflies and other elements I could use so I started fussy cutting. Some of the paper I tore in strips. I wasn't sure how much I'd use but what I didn't, I'd save for future use.

Then, I just started playing around with layering and positioning until I found a look I liked. Once I had it how I wanted it, I added some scrap chipboard to the backs of pieces to give it height and started gluing everything in place.

The finished piece is full of color and texture!

I added silk Sari ribbon around the edges to frame it. I love this type of ribbon! You can pull off fabulous fiber strands which I also added. The glimmer mists add a splash of seasonal color and the sentiment sums up the harvest and Thanksgiving season.

I want to thank everyone at Frilly and Funkie for choosing me for this honor. There is so much to be thankful for on a daily basis. Every breath we take is a gift. The beautiful colors are God's artistic palette. Enjoy the bounty you have. 💛

I'm entering this at A Bit More Time To CraftEmerald Creek, and A Vintage Journey for their Paper Stash challenge!

  1. This is simply beautiful... the pen nib w natural handle is my fave point (pun intended)!
I am deeply sorry for the loss of your Mother, & now the decline of your Father, to a crippling disease (we have dealt with dementia in our own sides here as well as Parkinson's). It's very difficult to be the caregiver & watch your parents go through things you wish you could take away. I've been where you are & my heart breaks for you.
You actually have a great outlet for your emotional pain: your talented artistry!!
Congrats on Guest Hosting once again!!!
