Wow - it's December! But it's also still Autumn. So there's still time to hold on to the last days of color and harvest activity. Maybe it's a lone bird, feathering its nest for the upcoming winter. Or enjoying an old book on the porch swing, wrapped in a wool shawl. I wanted to capture that in a mixed media piece that's bold but also soft and warm.

This canvas is actually a long one - around 9"x3". I used a grungy stencil with crackle paste and then used my Tattered Angels sprays:  Dark Vintage GreenWheat, and Aged Brick.

I printed out a couple of old poems and made the top one vellum using olive oil. I distressed the edges and crinkled them. Then added my bird and embellishments.  I finished it off with spatters of paint.

My inspiration came not only from the season but from the mood board at Mixed Media and Art!

And I'm also entering it at Art Playground

and More Mixed Media and A Vintage Journey for their paper stash challenge!
