Don't let your ideas get rusty

Hello my artistic peeps! Got an altered clipboard for ya that was born from a couple non-working light bulbs - you could say it was a 'lightbulb moment'!

Well, it's a luscious mix of grunge and rust and decay. I've thought of doing something like this for awhile and then decided not to let my ideas get rusty - sort of a play on words or concept with these rusty lightbulbs! Just look at that decay and oxidation! So crusty!

The background is a scrap piece of Finnabair tissue paper and a brown coffee filter. Then rust pastes and watery black gesso are added along with other rusty affects like wire and mesh. And that lovely, large chipboard cog!

I urge you to put your ideas into action - don't let your imagination get rusty!

I'm entering this at Mixed Media AcademyShopping Our StashFrilly and Funkie, and SanDee and Amelie's!

  3. Absolutely love your clipboard! I have a small one I have been working on but my colors got a little muddy, so now I'm in rescue mode. I love the rusty grunge look, too. I did a tuna can and chipboard project that amazed even me. You clipboard reminds me of that. I particularly like your corners. The corner rust treatment direct the eye to the patina in the center. This is a gorgeous, well articulated design. Thanks so much for sharing with us at Shopping Our Stash!

  4. This is grungy at its finest and I love the colour palette - rust and blue. The transformation of the light bulbs is super and they make a fabulous focal point. Thanks for joining us at Frilly and Funkie.
