Dream a little dream...

Well, hello there my friends! Can you believe it's almost the end of May?! It's warming up, color is popping up everywhere, and you spend those lazy afternoons reading a good book on the back porch. That's the perfect opening for what's happening at Scraps n Pieces

Their challenge this month has an adorable moodboard - don't ya just love it?!

I am honored beyond measure to be their guest designer because of my win for their December challenge! So in looking at the moodboard, I knew I had to do an altered book - and I knew I had to use the Blue Star collection from Stamperia!

This collection is a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e!! It has whimsy and magic and fantasy all jumbled together. For the front cover, I did a 3D fairy using foam squares. And I used lacquer on her wings. And in the corner - a wood laser cut fairy! Mirrored stars were a must and jewels adorn various parts, inside and out. Oh yes - the inside is done up as patient...😊

On the back, there's a nice Art Noveau moon lazing in the sky. More stars - some glittered - and a large acrylic piece with words underneath. Some of what I used in the collection actually came from the top collage cover sheet that shows bits and pieces of the whole collection with the Stamperia logo banner. Alot of people throw that page out - don't! Lots of little treasures there, from pictures to words!

And now for the inside! I carved different layers out (and sliced my finger 😳) and was lucky enough to actually find an illustration in the book that had the coloring I was using so I stopped there. So what can I say? Jewels, fairies, lacquer, glitter, stars - it incorporates it all! And Art Alchemy Waxes really pop on the black gesso!

Nooks and crannies to place little treasures...

And the spine is glittered...

It's just a magical little book that has a life of its own!  I did some books previously: How Poe-etic Is This?Art AlchemyIs There A Dr In The House?,  and American Vintage!  You can really let your imagination run wild with a project like this!

I'm entering this at Mini Album Makers!

  1. Sweet! I especially like the bits where the figures are coming through the pages and the vintage feel of the whole thing. Well done! Thanks for sharing with us at Mini Album Makers!

  2. This is absolutely fabulous, Cathy! Stunning work. xx

  3. Another fabulous piece of book art, fabulously embellished with those whimsical papers. Those fine fairies look sweet layered up but watch your fingers next time you go carving up books :)) Thanks for sharing again over at Mini Album Makers.

  4. The cover of your book is beautiful but that inside diorama is amazing! The layers you've created are beautifully composed. Thanks for joining the challenge at Mini Album Makers.

Hey - Tell me something good!
