It all started with this:
Which turned into this:
I used papers from Stamperia's Wonderland collection to create a soft, fairytale-like book. The pastel colors are soft and soothing yet shabby and worn. I first covered the whole book with paper, leaving the back cover plain. Then, on the front cover, I layered torn strips of different papers and fussy cut a fairy. I embellished with a leaf wreath, lacquer/glitter, and stenciling.
On the spine, I adhered some ribbons with a little fairy girl wood embellishment.
The inside is where the fairytale comes alive!
On the left side, I covered it with paper, then added a strip of braided trim. I then cut out a pretty square which I mounted on foam and embellished with lacquer. I embossed a frame and mounted that with foam, creating a pretty window! I also added soft-colored flowers.
The right side is carved out in layers and holds some surprises! My unicorn is embellished with lacquer and glitter. What's fun is that he swivels to reveal more underneath!
You can see a pretty sentiment with a butterfly and a pretty background with 'i believe in fairytales'. But that's not all! That background is a tag that slides out with the help of ribbons to reveal one last thing!
There's a fairy underneath with a pretty pink background!
I used lacquer and fine glitter to make things pop! You can see the layers as they tunnel deeper.
This upcycle was so much fun to do! It would look lovely in a baby's room or a shabby home. The soft colors go with any decor and everyone loves a mystical fairytale with unicorns and fairies!

Such pretty soft colours and lovely shabby chic paper edges give this book a magical feel even before you turn to the inside and see what's happening there. I love the butterfly dancing outside the window frame, but even more the magical peeling away of the tunnel layers to reveal the fairy opposite. Completely delightful. Thanks so much for joining us on A Vintage Journey.
