Twisted art

If you've been to my blog before, you know I love using records in my art. You can paint them, emboss them - even melt and twist them! My blog is called Oddly Appealing and that's what this piece is! I went from this -

- to this!

I took my heat gun around the edges to start getting the vinyl soft and pliable. Then, using pliers, I started pulling to start separating it and then crimped as it 'unraveled'. I covered the hole with a resin piece from Sandra Evertson, added paper paste around it, and painted everything black. Then I used waxes for some vintage coloring.

The vinyl doesn't stay soft - it actually will stand up by itself if leaning against something 😄. Or you can add a hanger on the back. It's an interesting and odd piece which is right up my alley! Vinyl isn't your everyday art canvas!

I'm entering this at The Funkie Junkie Boutique

  3. Cathy this truly is a work of art! Without your before and after photos I would never have guessed how it started life. Adding the resin piece to the centre of your former record is a stroke of genius as it compliments the whole piece and gives it perfect balance. Thank you for joining us at The Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog xx
