The Poisoned Apple Exhibit

Welcome to The Poisoned Apple Exhibit! We've got a spooktacular lineup of treats for you featuring some very talented artists - and a giveaway so read on!

For my project, I upcycled an old book - you've seen the old book-of-the-month books with the plain covers that have multiple stories in them.

I was initially going to paint it all black before covering it but I liked the look of the patterned cover faintly showing through the decoupage tissue from Prima so I didn't!

This Prima Decoupage Decor Tissue has a fibrous net-like texture so it's not completely opaque. The colors of this particular one - Iva - mixed well with the cover design. It also melts with the heat gun for ragged edges which you can see along the top. I also used DCWVs Immortal Love paper for further embellishing, along with wood die cuts and metal pieces.

Can't be bitten unless you have a tooth πŸ§›πŸ»

The spine is enhanced with a wooden vampire mouth, tattered black netting, and black jewels.

The back has a couple of apples - remember Twilight 🍎 (& it fits the title of our hop πŸ‘») - and there's lacquer enhancements.

The inside has a graveyard scene.

Creepy kids and cobwebs amongst the tombstones...

There's a wood tombstone and a bright, full moon with lacquer πŸŒ•

There's also a hidden surprise! I carved out a niche that would hold a hidden drawer. It's a creepy, macabre vignette 😱

This book is a mix of romanticism with creepy macabre. But they paired up beautifully for a striking decor piece!

We have a wonderful digital prize package up for grabs, courtesy of Gecko Galz! You'll receive:  Face To Face Jewel It Collage Set, Steam Punk Collage Set, Picture Perfect ATC Set, Clockwork Christmas ATC Set, and Spellbound Digital Stamp Set (which has 25 images!).

To have a chance of winning, leave a comment on this post, along with your email address or social media contact (IG, FB, etc) from now through Monday, 2 Nov. One lucky winner will be picked randomly from all comments left from all of the artist's participating! The winner will be contacted via email or social media so it's important you leave your address/social media contact info! Good luck and enjoy the hop!

IT'S ODDLY APPEALING - YOU ARE HERE!
