Happiness, love and abundance

Hello, my friends! It's getting chilly outside and I love it! The colors have gone and you see bare trees and browning flowers. But it's cozy at home where I've already got Christmas decorations up inside! I love this time of year because of the anticipation of the holidays, decorating, relaxing ≈ home is truly where the heart is.

This started out as a thrift store find - one of those ornate gold frames with a picture of an old castle in it. I was drawn to it because of the cherubs and festive look which was perfect for a shabby makeover. What's interesting is I put some Nuvo crackle mousse in a plain whitish color around the frame and in the middle and a strange thing happened: as it was drying on the frame, it turned a wonderful patina color. So something in that old gold paint had a chemical reaction!

The patina color was fine because it went with the paper houses I printed out using Prima's Flirty Fleur paper. And I added some tree bark and sisal for a natural element.

I think the crackle in the center really sets it off and provides a great textured backdrop.

  4. Cathy, I love your upcycle, and makes me go dig through my yardsale box to retrieve some things I thought I might not ever use! How wonderful your mousse dried in an unexpected patina and I love the natural touches of bark and sisal!
